Young's Seafood recently debuted new packaging for its cod fillets that is designed to resemble a serving of takeout-style fish and chips. With a growing number of brands competing for attention on supermarket shelves, this clever newsprint design is sure to catch the eye of consumers.
The new packaging for Young's beer-battered cod fillets is part of a partnership with the fresh food packager Linpac. Together, the brands created a special newsprint label that is designed to reference the newspaper sheets that are traditionally used to package takeaway fish and chips. Despite the design, consumers can fully view the product inside thanks to a transparent film lid. As Helen Nickells of Young's explains, "The striking design really stands out on shelf and achieves a ‘wrapped in print feel’ that’s unlike anything else on the market."
