Branding for Garrotxa Cheese Wheels Have a Stained Glass Pattern

This gorgeous packaging for Garrotxa's cheese wheels was designed by US-based student Flora Cruells Benzal, as part of a school project. For this design, the branding was designed around the cheese that is produced in Garrotxa, a mountainous region of Catalunya.

Emphasis was put on the origin of the cheese itself, sourcing inspiration from iconic Catalonian architecture and design elements, like stained glass windows. This comes across beautifully on the cheese packaging, which has a radiant mandala-like patterning on it.

The labelling adopts a darker color, a reference to the way the cheeses are covered with ash to enhance its flavoring. Although the colors are rich and ashy, they contrast beautifully with the bright red wrapper that protects the cheese wheels.
