Aside from making an effort to be kind and grateful to the planet with a sustainability pledge, Cheekbone Beauty is harnessing the culture of Indigenous people as an inseparable part of its product aesthetic. Emphasizing that "language is the foundation of culture," Cheekbone Beauty has chosen to use Indigenous languages in the design of its new Sustain Lipstick collection. Each shade in the capsule is "named after the earth, land or word for on the land or earth in one of the over 7000 Indigenous languages."
Aki, or AH KEE, for example, is "the perfect blue-red" lipstick. The name is also "the Anishinaabe or Ojibwe language word for Land or Earth." The product itself features biodegradable packaging and sustainably sourced ingredients.
