The conceptual Central Park Observation Tower has been designed by DFA as a structure for New York City that would offer inhabitants and visitors alike a spot to admire the cityscape, while also offering ecological benefits.
The tower is constructed with Glulam (glue-laminated timber) technology, which works to increase the ecological nature of the building by requiring one-third the energy and less than a tenth of fossil fuels when compared to steel. The tower would sit on the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir where it would help to purify the body of water to make it suitable for swimming, sailing and other water sports.
