Veterans looking to cope with their PTSD can do so with the help of the Bravo Tango Brain app; a meditation app that alleviates feelings of loneliness, pain, anger, anxiety or sleeplessness.
The majority of the app's content was written by Dr. Michael Valdovinos, a former Air Force psychologist who specializes in the intersection of mental health and technology. The app can be accessed through voice-activated systems like Google Home, and responds to voice prompts such as "I'm in pain" or "I'm lonely" with an appropriate breathing, meditative or mindfulness exercise.
Functioning much like a real-time conversation, the Bravo Tango app attempts to mimic a face-to-face therapy session, teaching veterans valuable coping mechanisms and skills that can be practiced at-home.
