Boston Red Sox VR headsets were given to baseball fans at this year's season opener event in an effort to make game day a more memorable and interactive experience. Stadium visitor were each given their very own Samsung Gear VR headset -- adorned with their favorite team's insignia -- and got a behind the scenes look at the Red Sox' spring training sessions.

This Boston Red Sox VR stunt resonates with the team's younger audience, a group who values experiential marketing and access to the latest technology.

When describing the marketing move, Boston Red Sox chief marketing officer Adam Grossman explains that "virtual reality will allow the team to open up and expand the emotional connections that they have with kids and their fans."
