Since the Boetger Residence's plot of land abuts a small lake, BarberMcMurry Architects, the studio behind the design of the home, opted to provide the residents with as great a view as possible. The sight lines throughout the family home are all oriented towards the lake, ensuring a picturesque vista no matter where one is in the house.

The lake's edge is angled towards the back of the house, so the front- and back-facing facades of the home are angled such that they are parallel to the shore.
