BMW NextVisionaries is a joint venture of the German automaker's i sub-brand (the brand its i3 and i8 cars fall under) and TED. NextVisionaries is an open call for ideas about the future of mobility. Anyone can submit an idea to the competition's site, and the best ones will be featured there for all to see. From there a panel will create a shortlist, with each idea on the BMW NextVisionaries shortlist honed and workshopped. At the end one idea will be picked as the winner, and its creator will present it on the TED stage in New York.
BMW NextVisionaries is attempting to cast as wide a net as possible, which means that entries don't just need to be designs for new cars. An entry could be an idea to improve infrastructure or a proposal for new software to make autonomous cars safer. BMW NextVisionaries is accepting entries now, with the winner slated to present a TED Talk in November 2017.
