There are more bicycles than there are people in the Netherlands, prompting the bike-crazed country to implement the world's largest bike parking garage to accommodate the needs of its environmentally friendly citizens. The garage is located in Utrecht, a city with a rapidly growing population that has over 10,000 citizens who ride to work or school each day.
The storage facility is situated under Utrecht’s central station and encompasses a total of 17,1000 square meters. The large facility can currently accommodate 6,000 bikes and hopes to double the amount of spaces by 2018 to entertain the increasing population.
The implementation of the world's largest bike parking garage aims to help make Utrecht the most bike-friendly city in the world.
