First South Financial has added an in-house buy now, pay later option to its mobile and online banking, letting eligible members turn posted debit-card purchases into fixed installments or unlock extra funds through a checking account before they shop. Powered by equipifi, the feature sits within the credit union's digital banking experience, so members use existing accounts instead of a separate lender app, account, or application.
Eligibility is based on each member's cash-flow profile and account history with First South Financial, and pre-qualification happens automatically. The product reaches more than 80,000 members across Tennessee and Mississippi, keeping repayment and spending tools in the same place as daily banking.
Built directly into mobile and online banking, the BNPL feature turns short-term borrowing into a native account function rather than a checkout detour. Tying purchasing power to cash flow and account history also keeps more small-credit activity within the institution's ecosystem.
