Chinese snack brand Baicaowei introduces what it describes to be the 'new era of meat' with a packaged sausage snack made only from plant-based ingredients. It claims to be a unique snack that uses non-GMO soy beans and twice distilled Konjac powder.
This is then applewood smoked to give it that smokey taste replicating the sausage notes at the final stage of its production. The texture, described by 'Food Navigator' is similar to meat, with a visual that replicates the marbled look as well. The word "Baicaowei' directly translates to "taste of 100 plants" to appeal to the young demographic in China who are leaning towards the vegan market when it comes to altering their diet. Baicaowei also offers a wide variety of goods including dried fruits, nuts, and more.
