SP01 Called on Metrica to Design its Launch Collection

The official launch collection for SP01, an Australian design brand, features impressive furniture that it says "captures the spirit of the Australian lifestyle." Designed by Milan-based studio Metrica, this collection features 10 indoor pieces, which include armchairs, desks, occasional chairs, benches and a sofa. All of the items are crafted in Italy and build upon an existing collection by Metrica. While the original collection made use of ash timbers and hand-finished wood, the SP01 collection incorporates metallic finishes, such as pewter, brass and satin black steel, combined with marble.

The new collection fo SP01 was led by Lucio Quinzio Leonelli and Robin Rizzini. When designing the pieces, the two lead designers were careful to incorporate elements from the original collection, while also imbuing the collection with a distinct feel. The result was an assembly of pieces that retain a sense of simplicity but also exude strength, originality and the Australian lifestyle.
