Architectural Photo Montage Series

Michael Jantzen Fuses Photographic Creativity with Architecture

'Masquerading' is an architectural photo montage series that mixes a variety of techniques and styles of representation to reach a truly interconnected and interdisciplinary work of art. Michael Jantzen isolated and manipulated his building designs, including sculptures and architectural models, with computer software. The result is a curious clustered symmetric design that recalls cultural masks with a modern twist. Michael Jantzen placed these colorful manipulated and upcycled rhythmic images on the bodies of people in an out-of-context everyday background. He adds a little physical piece of himself as he places images of his eyes in the montages.

The architectural photo montage series inspires the viewer to contemplate and conceptualize fantasy stories that center themselves around imaginative narratives and how architecture fits into the context of photography and visual art.
