HBO created AR lenses for Snapchat to promote its show, 'His Dark Materials.' The campaign was launched in the United States and it allows Snapchat users to interact with characters from the series. HBO worked alongside the Snapchat lens team to recreate the animal character from the show in detail.
The campaign also features locations that Snapchat users can interact with. If fans of the show go to the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, they will be able to access an AR experience, as well as physical posters promoting the show.
The Snapchat campaign will allow HBO to promote its show among younger audiences, as 90% of teens in the United States use the platform. Additionally, consumers are able to share photos from the AR lenses to other Snapchat users, which is a good way to organically promote the show.
