British comedian Ricky Gervais is featured in these Optus network ads, which are actually presented as anti-ads. The entire ad takes less than a minute and it shows Gervais talking about how he was appraoched for the ad but he didn't really want to do it. The satire is undeniably hilarious.
After Gervais explains that the Australian high-speed internet company Optus offered him a lot of money to do very little, he just agreed. The network ads then end and flash to a screen of iPhones as a voice-over says "the greatest ever iPhone is now available at Optus on 4G plus, our fastest network ever."
The anti-ads are short, sarcastic and to the point. It doesn't allow the viewer to get bored. The ad grabs the viewer's attention simply by having Ricky Gervais appear in the first scene and then quickly transitions to the one-line of product promotion.
