An amazing initiative by 'Rural Women Startups' and technology company Claro began using billboard antennas to provide income for housewives. Many women in Costa Rica became entrepreneurs and started in-home businesses that could be promoted through the use of hand-painted antennas. In Costa Rica it is uncommon for women to work outside their homes so they have taken their household chores and turned them into businesses.
Each housewife partakes in a different business from baking and cooking to haircuts and grooming. This provides an income for the women while their businesses are promoted atop their houses by the billboard antennas.
The colorful antennas can be seen by the vast majority of those living in the rural areas on Latin America. This attracts tourists and community members alike.
