The latest project by American artist Doug Aitken is a mirrored Alpine house in the mountains of Gstaad, Switzerland. The structure is representative of the creative's signature style.
Doug Aitken is recognized for his mirrored installations and the site of 'Mirage' really does the structure huge favors. The beautiful landscape is reflected on the exterior of the Alpine house, fostering an aesthetic that deeply interacts with its surroundings and channels seasonal changes. The low-lying building is strategically designed to withstand the ever-changing weather of the mountain.
Visitors are welcome to explore the minimalist, mirror-adorned structure from outside and inside. For the silhouette of the striking pavilion, Doug Aitken looked for inspiration in authentic 1920s California ranch houses, as well as the great work of famous modernist architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
