Terrace House Mirage Reframes a Narrow Sydney Home Through Reflection

— December 7, 2025 — Art & Design
Terrace House Mirage is a renovation of a 3.3-meter-wide Victorian terrace in Chippendale, Sydney, designed by Alcami Architecture. The project restructures the compact residence around a central courtyard with fully openable glass doors that link the kitchen, living areas and outdoor garden into a continuous sequence. Mirrors are applied across ground-floor walls to visually extend the narrow footprint and reflect daylight deep into the interior. Large sliding glazed panels dissolve boundaries between inside and outside while preserving privacy within the dense urban setting.

Material choices reference Mediterranean and Middle Eastern architecture through curved arches, pebble flooring and perforated metal doors. Roller blinds and chain screens regulate light and airflow throughout the day. Circulation is reorganized as a linear progression from front living spaces to the rear garden.
