The Allergy Amulet is an allergen-detecting device developed by Dr. Joseph BelBruno and Yale graduate Abigail Barnes. To test for allergens hidden in their dish, users simply insert the device into their food. The technology is extremely sensitive and can detect allergen levels down to parts per trillion. As a result, users can avoid inadvertently ingesting food that could make them extremely sick.
While the product is still in the development stages, the Allergy Amulet will eventually give consumers a simple and portable solution for testing for eight common food allergens.
