For the first time in its 47-year history, the popular fast food chain Long John Silver’s is offering consumers a new batter option for its flaky Alaskan Cod. With a number of other QSR chains experimenting with the addition of booze in sauces and marinades, the new batter option follows an ongoing shift in the fast food industry.
Following the success of market testing last year that saw beer batter outsell the company's original batter, Long John Silver’s has debuted Beer Battered Alaskan Cod nationwide. The new dish consists of "wild-caught Cod taken straight from the icy waters of Alaska," which is then smothered in a savory beer batter that boasts the rich flavor of brewed hops. The fish is served alongside natural-cut fries and the chain's signature hushpuppies for a contemporary twist on fish and chips.
