Infiniti's 'Pencil to Metal' 360-degree virtual reality video takes viewers inside QX30's design process as well as a concept car itself. The new-age advertisement lets viewers feel like they are "in the driver's seat as the QX30 concept car is created around [them]."
Infiniti's executive design director, Alfonso Albaisa, narrates the video while it takes the viewer from the design's initial 2D drawing to the 3D rendering of the car's clay model and finally, surrounds them with the car's full metal body and a finished interior.
With the advent of 360-degree virtual reality and the growing ability for people to experience it, advertising is going to take a huge leap forward. As this ad exemplifies, it will allow consumers to see and feel what potential products are like, even before they are built, from the comfort of their own homes.
