Zig-Zagging Green Buildings

'18 Kowloon East' by Aedas Features an Eco-Friendly Car Park

'18 Kowloon East' is a project by the architectural firm Aedas that makes green its theme. The building features an innovative zig-zagging car park that is lined with plants, making for an environmentally friendly -- as well as aesthetically cool -- building in Hong Kong, China.

The 18 Kowloon East building comprises 28 storeys and is meant to house a mix of residential and office space. The lower part of the building, as you can see, is where the vertical garden is. According to the designers, not only does the green addition provide a visually pleasing look, it also helps to improve the air quality within the car park.

It seems that today, no matter what type of building is being designed, infusing an eco-friendly element into the design is absolutely essential to the design process.
