The concept behind white washed fashion is to be able to work with a completely bare canvas worth of clothing and work them into pieces that aren't only runway-worthy, but overtly clean looking. White is often revered for being a color to avoid with intensity; it becomes discolored easily and isn't as versatile as it's black counterpart on the other end of the spectrum.

Fashion houses including Maison Martin Margiela and Alexander Wang embrace the concept of white washed fashion by focusing on the cleanliness that the stark shade brings with it. Margiela has used white paint to boldly finish boots and paints in the past, whereas Wang's marketing campaign this season is heavily powdered with androgynous overtones to help enhance the level of acceptability of the infamous colorless color.
