These notorious brass knucklevations are a testament to the increasing infatuation and desensitization of violence in society today.
Brass knuckles have historically been used to inflict terrible bodily harm on another. In today's era, they are not used for this purpose, and instead worn as a fashion statement. The concept of violence and a badass look is appealing and widely adopted. With so many graphic movies and TV shows, it almost seems normal for youth to use knuckle-inspired accessories that adorn iPhone cases, innocent coffee mugs and that even act as stylish jewelry.
However, since these harsh weapons are now used in popular culture, their menacing look is scaled down. There are now grass-topped knuckle rings as well as fist-inspired cleaning tools. Perhaps the immersion of such heinous creations into popular culture is a good thing, as they are phased out of marred history and into a more PG future.
