30 Chinese New Year Branding Initiatives

From Prosperous Brew Branding to Zodiac Kicks

— January 24, 2012 — Fashion
Millions of people around the world are celebrating Chinese New Year today, which also means they have been—and are—susceptible to Chinese New Year branding, whether it’s a pair of shiny new athletic shoes featuring a Year-of-the-Dragon motif or a funky commemorative watch. Regardless of the product, Chinese New Year, like any other holiday, is being used by brands as the basis for new products and themed marketing campaigns.

Chinese New Year branding isn’t as old as, say, Valentine’s Day branding, but it’s definitely growing as more people—Chinese or not—embrace the holiday. There is something very intriguing about dedicating an entire year to one animal (in this year’s case, it’s a mythical creature) and so, it’s not surprising that many consumers want to participate in the celebrations. If you’re one of them, kick things off by looking through this collection of Chinese New Year-branded products and campaigns.
