Space Copenhagen Designs the Memmertsberg in Switzerland

Danish design studio Space Copenhagen is the creative force behind the new design of the Mammertsberg, which is a combined hotel and restaurant that is located in a historic villa first built in 1911. It overlooks the Alps mountain range in Switzerland's Freidorf. The space is defined by a sculptural spiraling staircase, large windows, and paneled walls.

Space Copenhagen speaks with Dezeen about the concept behind the design, it states "We embraced the idea of keeping key historic, listed, and structural features, defining for the building and its architectural heritage. For the transformation towards something new, it felt important to add a diverse mix of furniture, lighting, materials, art and books, all of which could have been collected slowly over time."
