20 Yo-Yo-Inspired Designs

From Yo-Yo Phone Chargers to Spinning Tables:

The Yo-yo is one of the simplest, yet most addictive toys of the 20th century and its design has inspired countless concepts for furniture, electronics and even fashion.

The Yo-yo became popular in the 1920s as a toy that could be cheaply manufactured. Made of two disks, an axle and a piece of thread, the yo-yo challenged children's hand-eye coordination as well as their imagination to come up with new tricks.

These days, the Yo-yo remains relevant, but not so much as a toy craze. Now, it's more the simple, iconic design that carries the Yo-yo concept. Here we see iPhone chargers that resemble the Yo-yo. The cord can be wrapped around the charger for easy, clean storage. There's even a Yo-yo cocktail mixer that uses the pull of a string to spin the container and mix the drink.
