The Tuno ring-shaped DJ controller that shrunk a deck into a donut reimagines the standard DJ setup as a portable, circular device. Designed by Chaewon Lee, the concept—called Tuno—compresses two traditional turntables and a mixer into a single, handheld form. All sliders, knobs, and buttons are arranged along the outer ring, allowing both hands to control tracks simultaneously. The design focuses on intuitive movement and balance, emphasizing the tactile experience of mixing without the bulk of a traditional console.
Tuno integrates a jog wheel, gesture sensors, and wireless earbuds, enabling performance anywhere without external hardware. The compact form transforms DJing from a stationary task into a dynamic, spatial activity. By translating familiar controls into a minimal layout, the controller challenges assumptions about size and function in music technology, offering a fresh interpretation of rhythm, form, and control.
