Hourglass-Shaped Phone Concepts

Eduardo Gouffran and Andrea Fanelli Designs the METI Concept

Eduardo Gouffran and Andrea Fanelli work together to create the METI phone concept, reducing the distractions that often come with smartphones and bringing attention to the basics. One of the most common advice for productivity or staying focus is to simply allocate 20 to 25 minutes of time uninterrupted to do deep work.

It sounds simple, but it is a challenge to train our brains to balance tasks from one to another. The METI is the combination of the words 'mind' and 'time' which is a design notion that works as a digital timer between user and their phones. The hourglass shape is done on purpose as time management is the main function of the METI. It uses a dot matrix grid to show lights trickling down like sand.
