The women's movement has changed the way women are perceived in society entirely. Instead of seen as male-dependent beings whose sole purpose in life is being someone's better half, females have gained their freedom to work, vote and make a living for themselves after years of struggle.

Tomboy fashion is a style that is a proof of this freedom. Not every female enjoys and has the feminine, docile qualities or "pretty" taste in style that is (or thankfully, was) expected. In 2013, women now enjoy the freedom of dressing up as they wish and not have to look like an idolized bibelot.
