Gender-Focused Teaching Infographics

In the 1960s, my dad had two kindergarten teachers: Mrs. Brown and Ms. Brown. Apparently, the kindergarten teacher demographic has not diversified since. According to an infographic from BusyTeacher.org, there is a disproportionate surplus of female teachers in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. The BusyTeacher.org infographic uses statistics from American public schools, Canadian elementary schools and all teachers registered in the United Kingdom. In these areas, "teaching remains a female-dominated profession," especially for educators at the elementary level and below.

The infographic also says that according to an anonymous "official" study, pupils are more motivated and supported by male teachers. As a male teacher, Canadian middle school music teacher Eric Lyday does not agree with the claim, and doubts that it is based on legitimate research.
