With the upcoming release of the 'Hunger Games' movie, dystopia-related fads seems to be growing in popularity. From food culture to advertisement campaigns, these dystopian finds highlight the allure surrounding the concept of post-apocalyptic society.

The Hunger Games movie follows a long standing tradition of apocalyptic-related obsession, spanning as far back as the Cold War Era when many of the greatest dystopic novels and films were created (Mad Max). Pieces such as this tend to arise when there is an increase in an unexpressed, yet universal angst.

The Hunger Games movie is the adaptation to the best-selling novel that envisions an earth wherein teenagers are forced to battle each other to the death for the glory of their native province -- is it really too far off from the Survivor series? Battle Royale? Who knows; what I do know, however, is that I surely will be in line to catch the Hunger Games movie this week.
