Michael Peck’s paintings come across as tangible memories. The familiarity of the environments, the romanticism of the feelings felt in the moments and that longing one feels to revisit these passages of time; all of these elements are ever present when gazing upon the Australian artist’s work. The difference, obviously, is that none of these scenarios are real and for Peck to be able to bring these experiences into visual existence speaks of his mastery over not only a paint brush, but of the concept of art too.
In this particular gallery of works, Michael Peck explores a variety of images that hearkens back to the 1950s with dystopian accents. A standout from the collection has got to be the painting entitled Composition, which features an impossibly large man hunched over in a miniaturized room.
