Cottage in Woods is an innovative new wooden shelter and dwelling designed by Rhode Island-based design studio 3six0 for a local artist looking for a space that would provide both the isolation and the seclusion that artists often crave when working on new projects.
Accordingly, this wooden shelter has a compact size and measures in at just over 49 square meters considering its highly specific use. Since this isn't a space designed to impress but rather one that is meant to inspire, the interior was left with a natural wood look that makes use of shingles and pine that are suitably easy on the eye but inexpensive. The space offers a wood-burning stove for heating in the winter, while a skylight helps bathe the interior with natural light.
