Design seems to be going in a different direction, as exemplified by the Weight of Light lamp. Instead of focusing solely on aesthetics, the ingredient of user interaction has been thrown into the mix. First just a pinch, it has become one of the main additives.
Designed by Liao Chan Guan Jing, the Weight of Light is based on industrial scales. According to Yanko Design, "the intensity of the lamp is controlled by shifting the "weight" up and down the 'scale.'"
