While Starbucks is largely known as a place for early risers to grab their morning cup of joe, the chain recently began testing a weekend-only brunch menu at a number of its Portland and Seattle area stores. With breakfast becoming an increasingly important category for the global coffee shop chain, the new menu could cater to those looking for a way to indulge in a more leisurely weekend breakfast.
The weekend-only brunch menu is currently being tested at 78 Starbucks locations. In addition to its standard breakfast fare, the chain will also offer up more traditional brunch dishes such as baked French toast, cage-free egg quiches and Belgian waffles topped with powdered sugar, maple syrup and fresh blueberries. Like many of its other food, the brunch dishes will arrive premade and will be warmed before serving.
With brunch yet to be dominated by any one quick service restaurant, this new move could help Starbucks become the go-to spot for late-day breakfast options.
