Wearable Glucose Microsensors

Sava and Ascensia Partner on Minimally Invasive Glucose Monitoring

Sava Technologies is developing wearable glucose microsensors that continuously measure glucose beneath the skin through a minimally invasive approach. Unlike conventional continuous glucose monitors, the technology aims to provide a more comfortable monitoring experience while offering additional health insights. Its underlying platform could eventually track other biomarkers beyond glucose.

The device is being developed for non-adjunctive use, allowing insulin dosing decisions without routine confirmation through separate blood glucose measurements. Sava plans to conduct a pivotal clinical study in 2026 and is targeting European regulatory approval and commercialization within 18 to 24 months.

Through its partnership with Ascensia Diabetes Care, Sava gains access to established distribution capabilities and diabetes management expertise. Ascensia will initially handle European commercialization, with plans to use retail and reimbursement channels. The agreement could help bring specialized monitoring technology to more patients while expanding Ascensia's diabetes care portfolio.
