Garment-Inspired Lounge Chairs

The Vitra Bascule Lounge Chair Has a Fashion-Like Upholstery

The Vitra Bascule Lounge Chair has been developed through a collaboration with Lisa Ertel and Anne-Sophie Oberkrome of Studio Πas a seating solution that embraces a fashion-driven familiarity. The chair was debuted at the 2026 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen and features a jacket-like design that will call to mind aesthetics of garments with a fashion-forward edge. The chair is also paired with a design that follow the movements of the body to maximize comfort when being used for extended periods.

The Vitra Bascule Lounge Chair is named after the French word for seesaw and is accented by ample fabric that will envelope the sitter for a garment-inspired hugging experience. The chair is observed in a variety of colors and is slated to officially launch in September for purchase.
