AltspaceVR aims to usher in a new level to communicating with virtual reality phone calls. Working with the consumer version of the Oculus Rift, Gear VR and soon HTC Vive, people simply launch the VR Call app for all of it to come together in a neat three dimensional package. Although it initially revolved around the ability to see what's going on in the network's public rooms, it has evolved to include chats.
Virtual reality phone calls are the latest developments and although marketed as an extension of Skype, The Verge writes that they are "more about shared activity than pure conversation." It will be interesting to see how much more this technology evolves for commercial use.
