Elderly Video-Calling Platforms

Speakset is a Simplified Video Calling Service for Seniors

Speakset is a UK video calling service start-up that aims to make its platform extremely easy to use, especially by seniors. Rather that requiring its users to have a computer or a smartphone, this Skype-like service operates right out of a TV—although a computer or a laptop may also be used to make calls. The Speakset box is designed to be a plug-and-play device that is set up next to a TV and comes with a remote that has only seven buttons on it, which have been scaled-up and color coded for ease of use.

Since many seniors often live away from family members, in clinical trials, Speakset has been proven to improve quality of care, connection and reduce remission rates for those who suffer conditions like dementia and Alzheimer's.
