The sleek Victor Vetterlein 'X-Federation' chair is fashioned out of only a few pieces but is a structure that can support a lot of weight.
Vetterlein was inspired by the skateboard design, citing that his idea stemmed from the amazement in watching such a flimsy board take a brutal beating on the terrain park. The chair, named 'X-Federation' for the 'X' design decorating the back, is made from cheap material that is infused with carbon fiber, the same material coating the wood of the skateboard. The expensive material means a compromise on cost, but the result is a chair frame that is impossibly tapering and sinuous, but able to support loads like no other.
Vetterlein is an example for other designers to look for inspiration out of their industry and into other, unconventional corners of the world to better their world.
