At the Detroit Auto Show 2014, VIA Motors announced its collaboration with Recargo's 'PlugShare' charging infrastructure and mobile app. VIA Motors has been a unique and progressive auto-maker since designing and producing electric trucks, vans and SUVs; now, the company is taking its success a step further. VIA announced at the Detroit Auto Show that a "in-dash electric vehicle appliance" will be added to its vehicles. The change is a huge step for the future of electric vehicles.
The comprehensive charge station locator will be built into the car like a GPS, enabling customers to list through the nearest public paid and free charging stations. The VIA Motors PlugShare App contains 28,000 listings of stations across North America and 55,000 global locations in its database.
The PlugShare website and app in the EV models will allow customers to charge whenever and wherever they need, which improves vehicle efficiency and reduces emissions. Since trucks are typically the world's largest "gas-guzzlers," VIA Trucks simply make more sense.
