Pepsi Ice Cucumber

— May 24, 2007 — Unique
Yesterday, we had veggie-flavored ice cream. Today, we find out that Pepsi is offering a new veggie-flavored soda: Pepsi Ice Cucumber. What are they thinking? This is disgusting! Of course, if you don't agree, that's ok - but you'll have to wait for its release on June 12th -- only in Japan (thank goodness!).

Implications - Differing palettes and tastes among different populations means that brands can diversify their products across borders. While something like veggie-flavored soda may appeal to the Japanese in terms of taste, it's sheer novelty and off-the-wall twist on an everyday item will keep western consumers on their toes. It's a win-win way to diversify!
