Sustainability is a theme across footwear designer Sydney Brown's collection of clogs, ankle boots, sneakers and sandals, but the designer is looking to further improve the world of eco-friendly footwear by introducing a pair of biodegradable vegan stilettos.
The new footwear design has reportedly been in development for about four years, with much of the process involving the making of the perfect heel. While many slim stilettos are created with a plastic-like mold, Sydney Brown found a successful alternative with a mix of wood pulp and resin from the American sweetgum tree.
Sydney Brown notes that its very first prototype was sported by Natalie Portman on Saturday Night Live earlier this year. This summer, the environmentally friendly vegan stilettos are set to go on sale.
