Hot on the heel of Starbucks' widely popular Unicorn Frappuccino, a pastry chef working in New York City has created a colorful new dessert known as the Unicornnoli. Made with a homemade waffle cone and stuffed with an indulgent cream filling, the dessert is perfect for those who are fans of the iconic Italian dessert.
The Unicornnoli is a modern take on a traditional cannoli pastry. The dish was created by pastry chef Cat Schimenti of Gelso & Grand out of an effort to provide customers with a more sophisticated way to enjoy the unicorn craze that has taken over the dessert world.
To prepare the dish, Schimenti starts with a homemade waffle cone molded into a cannoli shell and pipped with a vanilla mascarpone cream and homemade funfetti cake on one end, while the other end is filled with a lavender berry cream mixed with graham crackers. Each end of the dessert is then dipped in white chocolate and one end is decorated with rainbow sprinkles, while the other is covered in coconut flakes. Finally, the Unicornnoli is topped with lavender berry macarons, funfetti cake and an adorable sign that reads "smash me."
