Ford transformed an S550 Mustang into a two-door pickup, replacing the rear roof section with a functional bed and tailgate. The one-off 'Mustang Ute Concept' was built at the Ford Experimental Vehicles Building in Dearborn, Michigan, by the team in the EVB Metal Shop.
The truck-like rear is paired with a custom bulkhead, an integrated spoiler, and a vertical back window, while the body kit borrows cues from a pre-facelift Shelby GT350. The build also served as hands-on training for apprentices and reportedly took hundreds of hours, making it as much a workshop exercise as a styling experiment.
Its place in the Heritage Fleet keeps the concept intact instead of sending it to the crusher, making it a permanent teaching piece within Ford's history. Preserving a finished prototype like this also gives the brand a rare in-house showcase for its fabrication skills and concept development.
