Tso Chinese Launched Its Self-Driving Delivery Platform in Austin

Tso Chinese Takeout & Delivery has partnered with Autolane and Nash to bring autonomous food delivery to Austin, using a supervised Tesla Model Y to transport orders from the restaurant to customers' doors through a single checkout flow. Customers opt in via text, track the vehicle in real time and unlock the trunk directly from their phones to retrieve orders without downloading an app.

The service launched at Tso Chinese's Cherrywood location on July 7, with Autolane managing the vehicle fleet, supervision and curbside handoffs. Nash handles delivery decisioning, determining which orders are best suited for autonomous vehicles rather than human couriers.

Tso Chinese shows how restaurants can integrate autonomous vehicles into existing delivery workflows without adding complexity for customers or costs for operators.
