The SITA OnAir mobile app aims to improve a person's access to travel Wi-Fi when at an airport and onboard an aircraft. With the introduction of the app, the tech provider aims to bring awareness to the fact that in-flight Internet connectivity is an option and that the experience is user-friendly, since many travelers are often unaware of what is available to them.
The SITA OnAir app is completely customizable and can be tailored to suit an airline's needs, such as spelling out pay-for or complimentary Wi-Fi session services.
To encourage travelers to make use of the app, SITA OnAir makes use of beacons inside airplanes and aircraft. Backed by this technology, the app is able to push messages to travelers, letting them know that Wi-Fi is available, as well as when it can be safely used during a flight.
