On Kickstarter, Autonomous is now introducing the world to a next-gen trash receptacle by the name of Oscar, also known as "the world's smartest trash can."
Oscar takes the form of an AI trashcan that automates the sorting process and ultimately helps to address the fact that a much higher percentage of waste has the potential to appropriately disposed of—rather than ending up in places like the ocean and threatening natural life. Oscar has an outer shell made of cardboard and two internal components, one for recyclable and another for non-recyclable content.
As with any AI technology, Oscar boasts the ability to become smarter with continued use. Occasionally, the smart trash receptacle will need assistance with determining whether an object is recyclable or not, which will help it learn for future encounters with that same material.
