Robert DeNiro and celebuchef Nobu Matsuhisa have picked an oasis in Dubai for their latest attempt to dominate the luxury food business. Set in The Palm on the grounds of Atlantis, Matsuhisha uses the local fish for his classic sushi dishes.
But it's Nobu's design that may ultimately steal the show. Hand woven abaca panels are made to resemble the ocean waves nearby, and hand-wrought iron columns of flora complement a giant laser cut screen of cherry blossoms.
Implications - Robert DeNiro's new restaurant with celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa has chosen to open in the Middle East. The Japanese cuisine combines contemporary and traditional elements in very innovative and clever ways. But of course, there is a twist with the Arabian influence abound.
